Coaching

The coaching aspect of my practice involves advising patients on proper nutritional, lifestyle, and exercise habits. By optimizing the health of an individual, their goal, whether to run a marathon, start a walking program, lose weight, or  just be healthier, can be obtained. My role as a coach to patients is to guide them on the correct road to health and fitness. I often make exercise recommendations, and with some, discuss the actual workout planning aspects of training – certain heart rate zones, and training in cycles (periodization), for optimal race results, recovery, and health. I’ve completed numerous triathlons, (16 Ironman races, dozens of half-Ironman races, and countless shorter races), cycling races, and trail races, so along with my health background, I am well qualified to help an athlete achieve their goal of either finishing a race or shaving minutes off their time. As you will see from the other sections under Fitness, training smarter rather than harder is stressed. Achieving optimal fitness while maintaining or improving health is the main goal.
