Hi ! I should start off by saying that you have a very informative and unique website. So, when I stand still for more than 2 minutes, my feet start to hurt, 4 on a scale of 1-5. Now I know that's not normal. But if I keep walking, then they don't hurt and I'm fine. But if I stand still for even a minute, they start to hurt really bad again. I also have to keep my feet extended/rested on a stool I keep under my desk when I'm sitting at work. Otherwise my feet will hurt, even when I'm sitting upright. If I don't have my stool, I'll have to keep my legs extended by leaning forward in my chair. Its crazy! And I don't know if this issue is related, but I can't ever have my pants belt buckled when I'm sitting down or I'll get a headache and feel suffocated, so I open it my belt and usually have my zipper open too (regardless of pant size or part of day). But when I stand up, I can buckled by pants up and I'll be just fine. I'm 28, 5-8 and 160 lbs. I've been like this since college (in high school and before I was fine). Are these two related? Am I eating too much sodium? Please help Dr. G! -Steve, Eugene, OR

Hi Steve: Foot issues sounds like plantar fasciitis.

Belly issue could be a FODMAPs issue.

Check them both out and see how it goes.

Hi Dr. Gangemi, sometimes I get a sharp stinging pain in the center of my foot…in the middle between my heal and toes. When I stand up straight with no shoes or shocks on, I notice that my left foot has more of an arch than my right foot, which is more flat against the floor and where I have the pain. I almost never feel this pain in the left foot. What can i do? Should I just get some arch support from the store? I've tried those before and noticed that they don't really work, and sometimes actually make it worse.
